To empower formerly incarcerated individuals with the resources, education, accountability, and support needed to achieve self-sufficiency, reduce recidivism, and become productive members of society.

From One Step to a Journey
Now I’m Alive began in the heart of Shreveport, born from a simple observation: our neighbors returning home from incarceration were losing their way not because they lacked will, but because they lacked a bridge. We saw talented, resilient men and women struggling to find a place to work and a community to call home.
Our roots are deep in Louisiana soil. We started as a small group of volunteers meeting in community centers, listening to the stories of those who felt invisible. We realized that true re-entry isn't just about a job—it's about being seen, heard, and supported as a whole person.
Today, we continue that mission right here in Shreveport, standing by every person who walks through our doors. We believe that no matter where you've been, your journey forward starts with a single, hopeful step, and we are here to walk it with you.
